[00:00:00] Any time when you've got an open wound, we want to heal that as fast as possible, especially with their pets.
[00:00:06] You know, they're not the easiest things to doctor and keep bandaged. I don't know about you, but I've got them always trying to take that thing off.
[00:00:13] So we want to help accelerate the healing process. And that's what the lights will do. They will accelerate the healing and stimulate the cellular repair.
[00:00:25] So that will happen faster.
[00:00:35] Welcome to The Pet Care Report podcast by Pet Summits. Here's your natural dog health care host, Alora McKinley.
[00:00:43] Get out guys! Thanks for listening into another episode of The Pet Care Report.
[00:00:48] Now joining me today is Sharon Katzke, President and CEO of Phototonic Healing LLC.
[00:00:55] Creators of the R-Light and Vision Light, with over 20 years as a CEO of an engineering firm,
[00:01:01] Sharon can blind her unique skills to develop the R-Light, which has become an industry leader.
[00:01:07] Since 2012, she has dedicated her efforts to advancing the R-Light and now focuses on offering training and certifications.
[00:01:15] Sharon has shared her innovations at PetExfo's and events across the US and Canada.
[00:01:20] Thank you so much for joining me today, Sharon.
[00:01:22] Thank you. It's my pleasure to be here. I always love to be able to share information and talk to people and tell me,
[00:01:29] Get a chance of talking. Well, I'm on game for that.
[00:01:33] That's it. Are you going to be chatting to us a little bit about light therapy,
[00:01:36] which is something that I've used on my own dogs for multiple different things.
[00:01:41] But for our listeners that might not be familiar with light therapy, could you just give us a general introduction to what it is?
[00:01:47] Sure. So light therapy has been around way back in the days of the Egyptians.
[00:01:52] They understood the value of light and light is a nutrient, just like food and water is.
[00:01:57] So we have to have light in our life to survive. That's why people when they get sad and they get that other issues going on
[00:02:06] when they don't get enough sun and enough light.
[00:02:09] So light is a basic nutrient that we need. Now how do we get it?
[00:02:14] You know, we are using light traditionally we used red and then we started using infrared with red.
[00:02:23] And then we were adding the blue and then we learned about green and then we started adding all of those together.
[00:02:30] And now we combine even those colors to make what I call probably chromatic light.
[00:02:36] Now people have been calling polychromatic light.
[00:02:40] The combination of red and infrared for a long time.
[00:02:44] To me, that's not really polychromatic light because when you combine red with infrared, your brain still sees and processes red.
[00:02:55] But when you combine what I combine colors like a red and a green on a pad per se, and I'll show you real quick so you'll understand what I'm saying.
[00:03:05] So I'm going to put red and green on and on this side, you can see that the red lights are on and the green lights are on.
[00:03:13] But when I put that up against my skin, what color does your brain see?
[00:03:19] Yellow.
[00:03:21] So now we process a third color.
[00:03:24] So we got yellow. We've got, oh my favorite, which is, whoopsie.
[00:03:30] Can I shut you up? I think I shut it up.
[00:03:33] There.
[00:03:35] When I put blue and green on together, look at that beautiful turquoise color.
[00:03:40] I mean turquoise to me is very soothing.
[00:03:44] And each color has their own property.
[00:03:47] And we can talk about that for a little bit to get ahead of myself when I start talking about the turquoise because that's something that people don't have available to them in other tools.
[00:03:57] One of the things that was really important to me when I developed these tools was the ability to do that.
[00:04:02] And not be limited to a red pad or a blue pad, or well now some companies are coming out of green.
[00:04:09] But that's it. That's in their pad, a green.
[00:04:11] So now you got to buy another pad that's just green and now you're back to carrying all these tools versus we put them all in one.
[00:04:18] And then we added the sound frequencies to that.
[00:04:20] And those combinations are credible for healing.
[00:04:24] You have any mention that this is something that's been used for a long, long time.
[00:04:29] Are there any scientific studies to back up the use of these lights?
[00:04:34] Oh, there might be one or two out there if you really go and dig.
[00:04:37] And I'm just kidding. There's like 10,000 of them are and then then some at every day more and more come out because the researchers are really starting to understand how powerful this is.
[00:04:49] And a lot of the studies are unread and read and infrared, but more coming out with blue.
[00:04:55] We're hearing more studies about green and we are pushing the envelope a little bit with some of our colors, but we go back to the 70s and we follow the ways of the training back then when the guy was using lenses over there eyes just to create color.
[00:05:15] And what those different color properties are so we base our colors on those in terms of our pets will kind of things that these lots helping with.
[00:05:23] So the biggest things that we work with with our animals are pain related issues and then wound healing okay so anytime when you've got an open wound.
[00:05:34] We want to heal that as fast as possible especially with our pets, you know they're not the easiest things to doctor and keep bandaged I don't know about you but I've got them always trying to take that thing off.
[00:05:44] So we want to help accelerate the healing process and that's what the lights will do they will they'll accelerate the healing and stimulate the cellular repair.
[00:05:57] So that will happen faster and when we add the blue to that now we have the anti bacterial and anti fungal properties of that and so it's kind of like your antibiotic.
[00:06:07] I meant that you would put on an open wound so if you put red and blue on an open wound you're going to have healing much better and all naturally as opposed to doing it a traditional way where it could take.
[00:06:25] And we can speed all of that up and then the other big issue that we work with this joint pain.
[00:06:33] We have animals, dogs, pets, you name it from from little tiny young ones to big old dogs or even old little tiny dogs to big young dogs.
[00:06:45] They all have joint issues at some point the bigger the dog the more prone they are to get those joint issues you know early on in their lives.
[00:06:57] And if you if you perform if you happen to be using your dog in a in a performance settings that you're doing agility with them and they're doing a lot of that back and forth back and forth.
[00:07:07] They're going to want develop joint problems so you want to help them before during and after we don't need them to wait until they've got a joint problem to support that.
[00:07:19] You want to avoid that our athletes don't wait till they get hurt to be you know stretching and conditioning and and doing everything that they need to do to perform the best.
[00:07:30] So we help with that one of the things that I see that really troubles me a lot is people that play frisbee with their dogs and you see it a lot and they don't think at all what that is doing to that dog to jump up.
[00:07:47] Spiral in the air to grab that thing come back down and land over and over again you know throw ball having go go that you know go fetch the ball but the jump and up in the air to grab.
[00:08:00] That frisbee is going to give you a problem sooner or later guarantee if a pet aren't as going to use it in a preventative manner.
[00:08:10] How often would I be using the light so we say if you're going to do preventative you know depends on the schedule of what your activity is though maybe you're doing weekend.
[00:08:21] Competitions then you're going to want to do that a couple times going into the competition and then right as a new finish that competition.
[00:08:28] And then maybe given that day off there is not one way to do any of this which is kind of a challenge to get everybody on board with using it.
[00:08:40] There isn't just everybody wants ABC and we're working with energy and you're working with animals or people or because this is good for people too.
[00:08:49] I mean it's not just we put this on our animals we absolutely put these on ourselves as well and I completely lost my turn of thought.
[00:08:56] If I use to get with that animal for maybe like chronic pain because I know it's very commonly used.
[00:09:02] And as he mentioned maybe frathritis chronic issues.
[00:09:05] How long does it take to see an effect from using the light?
[00:09:08] That's an excellent question a lot of time to instant you can see the animal react instantly whether they go lay down whether they give us a big yon or a stretch.
[00:09:20] A lot of times they'll just go to sleep and if they're they're walking.
[00:09:24] And a way that you can physically see that they're struggling and you do like therapy on them you will see them move differently now is it permanent no.
[00:09:35] It's temporary and the more you do it the less you have to do it because it didn't get there overnight.
[00:09:42] Do you have to unravel this onion one layer at a time?
[00:09:45] Can you explain a little bit how the lot works in helping animal in that kind of situation.
[00:09:52] So as the light travels through your we place it directly on this yet we use an LND LED is the further away from the skin they are the less intense they become so we like to have no gap there and we don't have.
[00:10:06] Have clothes on and you know it'll go through her because hair is actually alive it won't go through a dead matted up chunk of hair but it will go through the follow-codes.
[00:10:16] So we put this directly on the skin and when we do that the light travels through the dermis and it stimulates the mitochondria in the south.
[00:10:27] That's start to change reaction it's in the signal up to the burning that says increase my ATP production.
[00:10:32] That releases your endorphins and your serotonins and your anti-inflammatory and it sort of like.
[00:10:37] Telling the body hey you forgot about this and it's we reckon it to putting jumper cables on a dead battery.
[00:10:44] It's like come back and heal you forgot about this because after you've had chronic pain for I not very long.
[00:10:53] It's different for other people and I've heard different things but you know maybe between two weeks and two months if it comes.
[00:11:00] Chronic and your brain sort of shuts it off it resides in the frontal lobe and says that's what we're going to deal with for the rest of our life and you just can't compensate for it.
[00:11:09] And you your body stops sending signals to heal so we just kind of reenreach that signal again.
[00:11:15] There you go and so different colors you mentioned before we'll talk about the turquoise.
[00:11:22] The green can you explain what different colors may assist with.
[00:11:27] So on our website we've got a chart you know and we just have it broke down very high level because there's so much that these lights can do and there's a lot of overlap as well.
[00:11:37] The inner for red is the light that's going to travel the furthest into your body.
[00:11:42] So we're going to use that when we want to maybe impact the organs into those joints get past the dermis and infrared also works with the water in our body.
[00:11:52] So since for like 90% water that has become very effective in transmitting the signal through.
[00:12:01] So the benefits of that color is that it's for acute and chronic pain management it will relax muscles and it reduces information of your births a very high level just the top three kids.
[00:12:14] And the ailments for this color well any alleviation of pain from injuries arthritis or muscles and anything of births cytosimptum so any tend any items that we mind up having.
[00:12:26] Then red which we've had forever red is was probably the first color that that has been discovered that it has any kind of properties for the body and that was done with NASA they discovered that it has healing properties and was healing.
[00:12:40] The astronauts hands in space and they're like what are you doing that we're not doing and I'm tending to the plants and those plants are being grown under red light so that's how that whole thing got started.
[00:12:51] So we call it the great energizer. Ren is an exciting color it stimulates everything you see and it's a big bold color right so.
[00:13:00] It energizes the organs and the senses it increases your circulation and the blood flow and it releases this stiffness and constriction that's one that we can get something happening on the spot.
[00:13:10] So I do a lot of creatures and people come in and like you got to show them something that they're going to get a result for right then and there.
[00:13:17] What's stiff what can't you move where's your range of motion well I can only go this far with my head that I can go this way up okay well now let's go we're going to put them and next thing you know they can go further and they can see the difference right then and there.
[00:13:30] So we use it for healing of wounds cut scars and trigger points we are at the point therapy was all based on using red light and now and blue light and we use it for acute and chronic pain management.
[00:13:43] So then the blue light came along we call that the great anusceptic and because it has the anti that bacterial anti fungal properties.
[00:13:51] You remember they were using it for babies and john does years ago you know that's when we first started learning about blue light well it is great for soothing and cooling I say it's ice in light.
[00:14:04] So if you have something where you're like oh you smack your hand or you burn yourself and your thought is I got to get some ice on it grab the blue light blue is ice and light but then lot of you're to carry with you and your purse.
[00:14:19] Then it pack ice right so we talked about it also made anti bacterial anti fungal and it just reduces that acute information it will stop the process.
[00:14:28] So if you have a sprain and you get blue light on that right away it'll skip that really nasty purple ugly stage and get into that yellow green stage way faster.
[00:14:37] So we use blue to reduce inflammation in injuries combat fever and infection and acne and acne scars it's also great for a throat any throat related conditions whether to sore throat or when you had learned to I know the other night where you knew or anyone you lost your voice.
[00:14:55] Blue light would be very effective for that so those are those three and then green light.
[00:15:00] Green has come along and it's by far my favorite color we're just really starting to use it for a lot of things and first you know read us over here on the visible scale blues over here on the visible scale and green is right in the middle so we call with the great balancer.
[00:15:16] It's also is the most predominant color we have in nature and what do we do when we get I mean you got a beautiful brain spatter on I just love it.
[00:15:25] But like us it under the tree or we go for a walk or we go to the park we go somewhere and we don't realize what we're doing we're getting and we're starting ourselves with the green.
[00:15:34] It has now become one of the fastest areas of study and they're finding that it releases so much more oxygen than the red does.
[00:15:45] It's great for pain relief migraines for people that have migraines green is the color to go to for that it's a very relaxing way to come out of it.
[00:15:54] Well sometimes we'll have an animal that shines away from red it's too much for them they're animals can't lie so listen to them if they're saying it's too much it's too much you've been green they come back and they like that's a different story like the green.
[00:16:10] How do you use the lie for to be effective sometimes it's instant and sometimes it takes you no longer time we're dealing with energy and it there's so many variables that go into this there's a variable on the condition.
[00:16:24] The problem is the condition been there there's a variable on the person with the health of this person you know two people come to you and they both got in a car accident six years ago.
[00:16:34] One of them is a smoker and 300 pounds overweight and one of them to run or which one do you think's going to respond better to the light therapy so you there's always goes back to it depends and I know it's so frustrating when people like well it depends but it does.
[00:16:49] And then today what I want and tomorrow what I want might be different depending on how I slept last night depending on what kind of phone calls I've had to do with this morning.
[00:16:57] What my stress level happens to be so we start the paths with a 20 minute session on certain body parts and we say let that go let that be for a bit let that soak in your body needs time to absorb it.
[00:17:13] And we like to go low and slow so I kind of describe it as growing your garden and watering it would you water your garden with a fire hose or would you water the drip line it's good andality I like that that's the way we deliver the light people don't think about they say more is better biggers best blah blah that's our online says is but when we're talking about energy low and slow trickle.
[00:17:43] Is really what you want and now when I have used a lot therapy in the past for my dogs.
[00:17:49] I always go to see a professional that does it all for me but it seems like your products can also be used by pit parents with that they correct.
[00:17:57] Absolutely these are intended to be done at home the pads are completely cordless and flexible so they can wrap around a body part or with that ones that fit dogs from any bitty tiny dogs to very big huge dogs that are the size of the mini horse because I have many horses.
[00:18:13] And I wanted something there would fit them so.
[00:18:16] So we have the different pad sizes and then we've got you know different lengths as well some that can go over your face some that can go down your spine behind your light when we do lymphatic release you know that fits in our pockets.
[00:18:31] So there there's a lot of different ways to use the light and the only time they don't work is when they're sitting over there on the shelf.
[00:18:39] And you don't you know so you want them and you haven't you yeah and I quite simple to put on as to use.
[00:18:46] They're very simple you can literally take this turn it on pick a color and push the power to make it go it can be as simple as that or it can be as involved as how do those knows you a frequencies work.
[00:19:01] I want to use one of those and I want to combine my color blue and rad together because I want to work with magenta and I understand that and I'm ready to take that to the next level.
[00:19:12] So these pads are intended to be used at the very basic level to the very highest level that you want to learn.
[00:19:18] You mentioned sand to be before can you expand a little bit on that.
[00:19:21] So, so I want to put their frequencies as our nausea frequencies okay so we combine those you can either pick the nausea frequencies which is the seven.
[00:19:33] No jfrequencies that are our cellular residents when we were born our bodies resonate at the perfect harmony supposedly okay but as we grow we knock knock them out of that and by applying the light back to those frequencies it allows those cells to go back into resonant.
[00:19:54] And the best example of that is there's like there's a couple YouTube videos that have the metrodome where you know the musical click click thing and then they'll they'll have five of them and they'll start them and they'll all be randomly going.
[00:20:07] And about 30 seconds they'll all have picked up and picking up and they're going in sequence and it's pretty neat but that's what's happening with our body and ourselves when we apply the right cellular frequency to it.
[00:20:23] So that's how we use the sound frequencies with them is and you can either use it in our pre program pattern so we've gone through and we picked the pattern the frequencies that are most commonly used for pain or anxiety or a nervous you or some.
[00:20:38] And you can skip learning about those or you can take it to that final level and learn about what those individual frequencies are about.
[00:20:48] But you can be successful without that as well so they are intended to be used for everybody.
[00:20:55] Amazing such an exciting area of study it seems like they're just finding different ways that these lots can be used for different issues that not only way face but our dogs which is really really exciting.
[00:21:06] Exactly and it's not just a physical thing we have emotional releases we have mental struggles that the lights can help with people with depression with anxiety.
[00:21:17] Anxiety is a big one passion is that they're finding huge research is getting behind Alzheimer's in Parkinson's and all kind of brain injuries, traumatic brain injuries.
[00:21:29] I say they are finally the research and the industry is like really opening up to this you know our biggest battle forever has been the pharmaceutical industry.
[00:21:41] They don't really want all of our information to be in everybody's hands though sometimes we have that challenge to get amazing.
[00:21:52] Now if at least we're going to take one thing away from this episode what do you think that should be?
[00:21:57] Oh I took the time to think about that and it said my number one tip is not to wait to do not wait until you have an issue to start with therapy.
[00:22:08] You can prevent a lot of later in life age related conditions by doing preventive therapy before there are any problems or any signals to you that there is a problem.
[00:22:20] Just help we take our vitamins every day or supplements or whatever and we do that to prevent things from happening right.
[00:22:29] I said earlier the only reason this therapy will not work is if the tool is not being used to sit on the counter or in the drawer or who knows where you left it last sometimes the people like I remember where I left that you know it's like well that's not good.
[00:22:41] You need to know it needs to be with you and that's the only reason so it needs to be in your hands and easily accessible at all times and that is my number one takeaway from this use it just use it.
[00:22:53] Thank you so much for joining us on the podcast today Sharon and teaching us a little bit about lot therapy now for our listeners that may want to find out more maybe about your tools where can they find something for me.
[00:23:05] So we've got of course our YouTube channel which is vism like the IS UM, LIGHT search for that and we've got our Facebook page and we've got our website vismlike.com and we were unlinked and we're on Instagram and we're actually even on TikTok so if you look for us your find us beautiful.
[00:23:35] Okay and for our listeners don't forget to subscribe, leave a review, have an answer question that helps us reach more pet parents with this episode and I'll see you again next time for another episode.
